The 17th Arab Steel Summit, organized by the Arab Iron and Steel Union, took place from October 14-15, 2024, in Doha, Qatar, at the prestigious Sheraton Doha Hotel. This year’s summit gained even more importance due to the significant economic, geopolitical, and climatic changes currently impacting the global iron and steel industry. The event brought together industry leaders, experts, and key stakeholders to address these challenges and explore future opportunities for growth and development.
The iron and steel industry holds a strategic and primary position within the global economy. With the Arab world striving to increase its contribution to the gross domestic product through the mining, iron, and steel sectors, the summit served as a critical platform for discussions and collaboration. The industry’s pivotal role in driving economic development was emphasized, as it supports various sectors, including automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding, pipelines, oil, food packaging, and water transport.
